Memes make the World go round

FOR THE INTERNET SAVVY PERSON, THERE ARE NOW FINE ART VERSIONS OF THE MOST POPULAR MEMES ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

If I was to make an achievement list of all the things birthed by social media, as much I want to sound serious, networking would not be at the top of my list but memes would be. You can imagine my joy when I found out that a Delware-born visual artist, Alim Smith, turned some of internet's most popular memes into actual pieces of art.

With an average aggregate likes of over 20,000 retweets, the buzz from his arts are still on the uprise and it is only right to make you fall in love with his art and memes even more. We have some of the works on twitter @yesterdaynite and website here

AFRICA'S #SALTBAE

BECAUSE WE STAY WINNING AT MEMES

A couple days back, social media went wild over Turkish chef, and restaurant owner, Nusret Gökçe, as he takes cooking to a new fun level with his meat, salt and killer knife skills. And as we expected, it took no time for viral memes to be made out of his videos.

He has gained fans and followers with the speed of light and has an artwork of him to show for it. While his videos make you wonder why what he does is even a thing, it also keeps you hooked on it and wanting more. Born out of this viral meme with the hashtag #saltbae is African's very own self-proclaimed “future movie star” from Kenya, Seth Gor, not only does he show us to properly work an avocado, he also makes it known that he’s Africa’s own #SaltBae.

African's are very proud of their own as it took no time for @seth_gor to trend on twitter and instagram, with people even urging their network of folllowers to retweet and help make trend; see the power of memes?

We previously talked about meme as a marketing tool. Imagine this restaurant owner as a start-up, by virtue of this meme alone, first, his network has increased on Instagram, also people will want to know what he does for a living. Hence,  they find out that he has a restaurant. His consumer base as well as patronage should rise by at least 50%, so,  memes are not just for fun and recreation anymore, jump in on this marketing tool.

MEME-ING

MEME AS A MARKETING TOOL

For the internet savvy person, you know you can’t talk about social media messaging and interactive platforms and take memes out of the context;

A meme (/ˈmiːm/ meem) is "an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture"; it acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. It is a viral phenomenon that may evolve by natural selection in a manner analogous to that of biological evolution.

You can also find and create the best memes here; many times asides social media engagements which involve updating your profile with content, messaging fellow users, liking and commenting on pictures; meme takes the social media crown, as far as research and activity collation stands, memes often have the highest number and form(s) of interaction.

It is surprising to say that meme has far gone beyond its surface value of entertainment and aiding social interaction to being a news medium, right now the best way to make news or content go viral is to create a meme out of it. This is an open call and invitation for marketing brands to look into memes as a tool for advertising, it works we promise, okay for example you are trying to market a new lightbulb, that in itself is not a lot of fun, but imagine using this meme below

This particular meme is guaranteed to spark tons of conversations and ignite emotions and reactions, and if not for anything people would buy it just because it is a trend on social media, so there you go, sales records on the rise.
