Rise up and Walk

MEET CRYSTAL CHIGBU, THE YOUNG WOMAN PROVIDING PROSTHETIC LIMBS FOR YOUNG AMPUTEES

According to Walter Disney our greatest natural resources are in the minds of our children, so we know that when we focus on children we are focusing on the future.

We understand that children can help educate their friends in school, that way we can educate a whole nation – and we can reduce societal stigmatization.

The Irede Foundation provides prosthetic limbs and other forms of support to underprivileged amputees between the ages of 0 and 18 – with over 25 prosthetic limbs provided. Founded right after Beulah Chigbu the daughter of the founder (Crystal Chigbu) lost her limb during birth; the mission was started upon her vows to provide for children in similar situations and that was how The Irede Foundation was formed. The foundation is a non governmental organization focused on giving Love, Joy and Hope to children living with limb loss, knowing there are no limits to their potentials.

Irede Foundation hosts an annual event 'Out On A Limb' an awareness campaign aimed at bringing the attention of society to the challenges faced by children living with limb loss and the need to appropriately care for them. In 2014 over 600 people including Ace Actress Kate Henshaw, World Class Comedian Ali baba, Family Life Consultant Praise Fowowe, winner of MTN project fame season 5 Ayoola Ayobami , Award winning News Anchor/ Reporter Channels TV Adesewa Josh, ever vibrant OAP Tosyn Bucknor, Award winning Gospel Artiste Diekololami Olu- Adegoke walked  2km with several amazing child amputees. The 2017 edition of Out on a Limb, their annual walk to bring attention to the challenges faced by children living with limb loss, will hold on April 8, register here.
