If you give it a critical look you will find that people, especially Nigerians do not drink sufficient amounts of water. I once had a friend who consumed the least amount of water I’ve ever seen. He used to consume about 15cl of water a day, that’s about half a sachet of “pure” water. No matter the meal he consumed; whether a hot plate of beans or a solid loaf of bread, he would almost never pass his gauge. Little wonder he never played any form of sports and was terribly skinny.

You see, it is scientifically proven that the body is 70% water. Which queries the ideology that man was made from dust, however, this article is not about the origin of man but his make-up –the components. If the water composition of man is anything to go by, it then means that for you to strengthen your body and for your organs to function optimally, you would need to drink sufficient amounts of water daily. Plus we live in the tropical regions of the world and trust me, Nigeria can get very hot and the hustle is real –traffic, making money, sports and so on. Everything tends to dehydrate you, causing you to excrete from virtually every opening in your body –sweat and urine.

More so, there are a great percentage of people who tend to enjoy the sweet sour taste of alcohol every now and then and this helps to expel water from the body. Let me seize the opportunity to share a secret with you; if you want to consume a good amount of alcohol before getting intoxicated, drink a lot of water –this one is for my fellow light-head brothers. You can thank me later.

Furthermore, if you are in anyway health conscious and consistently ensure strength and vitality, you will certainly agree that each time you visit the doctor or research on whatever ailment, you find that, one standout remedy or prevention is to drink a lot more or sufficient water. A great number of people who have been on the water therapy bandwagon for a fairly long time can say that they have clearly ripped some of the dividends of drinking sufficient water. These dividends include but are certainly not limited to; a glowing and very well moisturized skin, bright eyes, healthy bodies, optimally operational kidneys and livers, strong bones, and a healthy heart.

This water therapy episode has significantly latched on to many Nigerians as we have become increasingly health conscious. I even saw a water therapy reminder app on someone’s phone the other day. The app reminds her to drink a quantity of water at certain intervals. Water companies have begun to record increase in sales as consumers are drinking the product a lot more these days.

At the beginning of this article I said I had a friend who didn’t use to drink sufficient water. Well, he is still my friend and he is not dead, but the reason I put him in past tense was because he now drinks a lot of water like his life depends on it –the truth is, it does. So keep all your alcohol for another day because tonight I’m getting Crunk on water.
