Instagram has been quite rigid on including this feature as the major focus of the app remains photo sharing and editing, so adding links to posts may make it lose this unique feature as many users will turn the app into a mini-blogging platform. In addition to this progressive upgrade, Instagram also is adding automatic highlights to phone numbers and addresses sent via Direct Messages making them clickable.
This upgrade will also bring another interesting feature, being the disabling of the weird cropping of pictures into a rigid box when sent via DM. This means a support for both landscape and portrait pictures sent through Direct
