Chinonso Onyekwena is an 11 year old gifted lad who ties head gear (gele) for many Nigerian women. Given that he lives in a city like Lagos he is sure to have a lot of work to do especially during the weekends as there’s always one event or the other to attend –the occasional ‘Owambe’.

This young lad is just 11 years old and he is already getting personal parole (PP or side jobs). Makes me wonder what I was doing when I was that age.

Chinonso is in his freshman year in secondary (high) school and manages to effectively handle both school and work with the exceptional guidance of his mother. He developed the interest to tie head gears at his mother’s makeup studio; she then enrolled him for classes where he became an aficionado at tying head gears, worthy of the media. He hopes to own his own studio sometime in the future and also hopes to tie gele for the first lady of the federal republic of Nigeria, Aishat Buhari.

He believes that his art saves ladies the hazards of trying to tie their own head gear as well as time.

We TINK that the unwritten motto for everyone these days is to start early. Back in the day, if a child this age should as much as think of anything other than going to school; he or she would definitely get punished for that thought. These days, parents are encouraging their children to love something enough to go for it.

This is certainly Geartastic.
