Osa Okunkpolor popularly known as Osa7 is leaving a legacy for the coming generation of artists. With a degree in Visual Communications this young artist is living his dream, one which no one would naturally think possible. Being a Graffiti in Nigeria has never been a thing, at least before now but Osa 7 who has dedicated their art and energy to changing this notion, today the once distant dream is fast becoming a reality.

Through excellent self-branding packaged in hard work and compelling storytelling, Seven got Lagos State Government’s attention earlier this year, winning himself and his art a deal. Osa was commissioned to have his works painted on popular walls around Lagos. But beyond the art, he has in the course of the job proved himself a commendable brand developer.

Using his social media influence, Seven has carried young artists and the entire country along on his journey which he branded #EkoTag. Putting out interesting and intriguing snippets, stories and visuals, the @TheEkoTag social media page (Instagram, Twitter and facebook) has become a delight to visit. With an organic following of over 800 (on Instagram) in almost just a month and half, the page reflects one of Osa’s strongest techniques, an ability to carry people along his journey in the most interesting ways. Anybody could have gotten this same commissioning, done the job and not thought of telling his story as creatively as Osa is doing. The seemingly effortless charm of branding and storytelling clearly comes easily to this artist.

The @theekotag page has featured many of Nigeria’s favourite celebrities as well as fun games, photo challenges, trivia, short videos clips and exciting graphic arts all showing bursts of colour and youth. While at work, Osa is engaging with his followers, alongside other art enthusiasts even as he consciously builds himself into a pop culture brand.

#TheEkoTag project so far has the support of Lagos State Government, FCMB and KUMA Nation and so far, we are completely impressed with his job online and on site.
