ACCESS AND DIAMOND BANK MERGER WOULD CREATE A RIPPLE EFFECT ACROSS AFRICA. THIS IS CERTAINLY BEYOND BANKING, IT’S SOMETHING MORE.
Like bread and butter, salt and water, yoghurt and burger, life is a combination of many beautiful things that make something exceptional. Africa has realized this and as a result, top guns are coming together to create an arsenal – you’ve just got to win.
In 2018, we wrote about this trend in an article titled Youniverse – The Power of Collabo, the trend – Merger. Mega organizations sealed mergers in 2018 such as Spotify, Shazam, Facebook, Apple, and so on. The trend sailed into our shores before we could pronounce the word as it is a global trend. Apparently, businesses around the world are currently saddled with the responsibility of creating newer experiences for consumers and as such needs to partner with other forward thinking organizations that have the potential to make magic.
This has given rise to a trend that’s currently generating a huge amount of conversation in Nigeria – Access and Diamond bank merger.
When this merger was announced, Nigerians didn’t know how to receive the information as there were those who loved Diamond bank and didn’t want to have anything to do with Access bank and vice versa. However the CEO of Access bank Herbert Wigwe came out and gave a whole speech on how that it is for the best, stating that the merger would make the bank the largest bank in Africa – I mean, who wouldn’t want to be associated with something that great? Anyways, I currently have an account with the bank following the merger.
What do you TINK about the new logo?
This apparently is the major talking point. Everyone across the face of Nigeria are happy about the potential of the merger however, many say the brand manager on the job could have done a better job with the logo.
Do you agree with them or do you think the logo catches it as a blend of both worlds? Let us know in the comment section below.
But, if you ask me, I’ll tell you that the logo is perfect, because of two main reasons. The first is that it perfectly blends the former logos – better together – and puts them in your face (you can’t miss it), and the second is, the lines don’t point forward this time, they point upward, thereby indicating exceptional progress (here there are no roads – charting new courses and exploring opportunities unfathomed), but you aren’t asking me.
What could happen as a result of this merger?
We expect other businesses in order sectors to follow suit as the main concern for every business right now is future proofing – they want to live forever. This therefore means that the trend only just begun, many more big players in many other sectors would undoubtedly be reTINKing their sustainability strategy.
Just like Access and Diamond bank, make your competition your partner – Tomorrow is here.
