A US SOFTWARE DEVELOPER QUIT HIS JOB TO DEFEAT HIS WEAKNESS OF FOLDING LAUNDRY. MEET HIS AWESOME INVENTION, FOLDIMATE.
Gal Rovoz a super tech enthusiast quit his job as a software developer and product manager to tackle one of his biggest weaknesses, folding clothes. Rovaz who has had his wife unimpressed with his laundry folding skills decided in 2010 to leave his fancy job in Israel to join some researchers in inventing a robot laundry folder. The machine got a technology patent in 2013 and through early investments from family and friends, Foldimate will be hitting the stores in 2017.
The machine which he nicknamed “folding friend”, softens, dewinkles, scents clean laundry while straightening them. Foldimate folds clothes in just three seconds, all folded laundry are placed by the robot in a neat pile. The current design is the size of an European washing machine and takes two and half minutes to fold about 25 pieces of laundry. This will effectively help every user save about half the time the process would take when down manually. Rovoz has shared some restrictions in the current model which he hopes to tackle in the coming model, asides high cost and big size, the current model cannot handle small size laundry e.g. baby clothes, underwear, socks etc.
The inventor intends to hold down the U.S market before making international scale ups. Now, the company has 10 employees and is attempting to expand beyond that. Overall he wants to create a future with no worries of unfolded clothes.
