5 Nigerian Skincare brands to jump on

A few weeks ago I poured hot water on myself and no i'm not going to yap about how I cried till my eyes shut or how I was literally babied till I healed; i'm here to speak good about natural products and leave some below for you to check out and #buynigeriatogrownigeria. It was a second degree burn and was told Dermazin would dry up the scalds, all it did was make my skin cake-up and look all messy, even I couldn't stand it, then my mother, woman in charge of every weird natural recipe went out and came back with aloevera which was blended, the affected area was cleaned with hydrogen peroxide and I began religously applying the aloevera with cotton balls and it was dried in two days, this is after wasting over a week with the chemically produced cream recommended. If you are a natural product addict like I am, you can of a truth attest to how often honey, Shea butter, coconut oil have come through for you over face washes and the likes. In light of this i'm going to go ahead and list 5 Nigerian skin care brands that are all natural.

AJALI is an all-natural, completely handmade cosmetics brand established in 2013 to promote local industry and create awareness for living a healthy life. Our brand ethos is simple – we believe that beauty can be effective as well as pure and most importantly safe. We take pride in partnering with local farms handpicking fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs to provide you with raw skincare recipes for your whole self. A mere 14 months after the brand was launched, Ebony Life TV awarded AJALI with the award for ‘Best Made in Nigeria Product of the Year’.

Founded in May 2010, The Kinky Apothecary was the brainchild of Nibi Lawson, when she was unable to find products in Nigeria to suit her blossoming obsession with healthy natural hair. Her main aim was to ensure superior hair products and education were within the reach of people in Nigeria who had made the decision for themselves that they no longer wanted to relax their hair, but were at a loss on what to do next.

In addition to stocking a large variety of natural hair brands, free of sulphates, silicones, mineral oil and other ingredients which are not particularly beneficial to naturally kinky, curly or otherwise textured hair, The Kinky Apothecary also aims to educate by organising frequent work- shops and events. Far from feeling like a chore as education sometimes can, we attempt to inject fun into the proceedings, most notably with our Champagne, Cupcakes & Curltalk events.
